The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently experiencing a crisis, and the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, has stated that the PDP is for all of Nigeria, not just a particular region.
He said this on Thursday while addressing a sizable group of party members at the Ilorin Metropolitan Square in Kwara State during Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign.
“Let me tell you that PDP is one big united family which includes all the whole of Kwara State. We are on our way back to victory.
“PDP has come back to rescue this country and put it back on the path of development for every family, for every young man, for every old person.

“We are a party for all; we are not a party for only one part of the country. That is why we selected a unifier, somebody who will bring everybody on board and make sure that we rebuild this country.”
In order to support Atiku’s bid for the presidency in 2023, five governors from the party led by Nyesom Wike of Rivers have requested that Ayu resign. However, the politician from Benue has vowed that he won’t do so till the end of his four-year tenure.
Atiku, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, and Godwin Obaseki would all be present at the rally on Thursday (Edo).
Others include former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Governors Babangida Aliyu, Ibrahim Idris, and Abdulfatah Ahmed of the states of Niger, Kogi, and Kwara, as well as Dino Melaye, a spokesperson for the Atiku campaign.
Party supporters holding banners and placards supporting the PDP presidential candidate filled the stadium to capacity.
