Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party‘s (LP) nominee for president in the general election of 2023, has urged Nigerians to support him on the basis of his ability rather than their feelings of entitlement or ethnicity.
The former governor of Anambra State said on Sunday during the Presidential Town Hall series hosted by Arise TV that Nigerians should vote for him because he can help the nation out of its current predicament, but he later clarified that it is not anyone’s turn but rather the turn of the youth and the women.

Because Peter Obi is from the South East, a Christian, an Igbo man, or because it is his turn, he advised Nigerians not to vote for him. I want you to vote for Peter Obi because I am qualified, he emphasised. because I’m capable. I am aware of what I can do to save this nation from impending disaster.
In order to address the nation’s security issues, Obi emphasised the importance of bolstering and reinvigorating the local vigilante system and having it cooperate with the police.
The presidential aspirant also criticised the current administration for lacking initiative and failing to act on intelligence in preventing the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train and other crimes.
Obi claimed that if he had been elected president, he would have taken other actions to stop the catastrophe that Nigerians are currently experiencing.
Before the Abuja-Kaduna train incident, he claimed, the intelligence processor had failed; according to the material at hand, there had been prior attempts and intelligence that had been ignored, as well as indicators of insecurity along that rail path.
He continued by saying that intelligence was not properly processed or given the necessary attention, which he would have addressed right away to prevent the catastrophe.
