The Labour Party (LP) has demanded the detention and prosecution of Mrs. Folashade Tinubu Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria and daughter of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, over a viral video depicting the closing down of shops allegedly belonging to people who failed to attend Tinubu’s rally while traders claimed they were asked to pay a sum of N5000 each.
Arabambi Oluwafemi, the LP’s national publicity secretary, responded to the incident on Monday by arguing that the move was contrary to democratic principles.

He claims that Section 40 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution states that everyone has the right to freely assemble and associate with others, and that this includes the ability to form or join any political party, trade union, or other association for the purpose of defending their interests.
Accordingly, the urgent call is required given the frequent attacks on Labour Party members and our offices in Lagos.
In Ajegunle and other parts of Lagos, such as the Oshodi neighbourhood, the Labour Party headquarters had been attacked, he recalled.
He claims that despite repeated requests from the State Police Command to establish a supportive environment for all Lagos lawmakers, the State Police Command has declined to do so.
