On Saturday, October 01, 2022; newlyweds participated in a rally held by Peter Obi’s Labor Party supporters in Benin City, the capital of Edo State in Nigeria’s South-South geopolitical zone.
The labour party banners carrying pictures of the former governor of Anambra State were waved by Obi’s followers as they gathered at the Famous Ring Road in the state capital.

Similar to this, supporters of the LP candidate—also known as “Obidients”—gathered in key locations across several Nigerian states, including Lagos, Kaduna, and Abia.
The rallies took place on Saturday, the 62nd anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.
In Lagos, the supporters began their march from Admiralty Junction and proceeded along a main road into Lekki.
They stopped at each intersection as they marched toward the Jakande and Elegushi axis, displaying flags, banners, and other decorations in an apparent attempt to avoid confrontation with the police already posted at the Lekki Toll Gate.
A Lagos court rejected the rally’s request to gather at the Lekki Toll Gate on Wednesday.
The court also instructed the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, and the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, to ensure that the decision was adhered to.
Before the general elections in February of next year, the event’s organisers say their aim is to increase organic support for the LP presidential candidate.
