When the presidential candidates from various political parties signed a peace agreement prior to the 2023 elections, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, was not present.
Due to rumours that the APC presidential candidate is currently in London, the event was attended by Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima, at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party were all prominent participants in the presidential race.
The National Peace Committee, led by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah and former head of state General Abdulsalami Abubakar, organised the peace pact.
