A group that backs the Labour Party, LP and its presidential candidate Peter Obi has accused Kayode Salako, the party’s chairman in Lagos state, of working against the party and demanded that Salako be expelled from the Labour Party.
Salako is allegedly working for the All Progressives Congress‘ (APC) presidential candidate in Lagos State, according to the Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization 2023 Movement, which made the claim in a statement posted on its Twitter account.
“Kayode Salako, the chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos, works for Tinubu. He must be expelled from the party, the group declared.
Remember that the Salako, the husband of Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola, was chosen by the Lagos Chapter of the Labour Party to lead the state’s party in July 2022.

In advance of the general elections in 2023, a copy of the letter confirming his appointment was forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Salako has stated that winning elections is his top priority when leading the Labour Party in Lagos. He declared, “If I can’t win elections, then it is not worth it.”
Salako revealed that winning elections is the main goal of operating a political party when speaking with officials of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other political organisations in Lagos.
He declared, “A political party won’t only be referred to be an unserious party if it exists but is unable to win elections.
He explained that as the new chairman of the LP in Lagos, it is my responsibility to organise the party in order to win elections.
“Running the party well and making sure it becomes the next ruling party in Lagos is the top priority of the executives for the general elections in Nigeria in 2023.

“I don’t think the impossible is possible. It is both feasible and achievable! It can happen because of God’s heavenly favour, which is currently resting upon the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Gregory OBI.
“Winning elections is my first priority as the leader of the LP in Lagos. It is not worthwhile if I can’t win the elections.
“I want my name to be etched in gold in the history of Nigeria as the son of a nobody who arrived, ran his party successfully, and for the first time, won elections in Lagos State,” he continued.
“Winning elections for my party is my goal. As the state’s chairman of the labour party, that is where I will always find fulfilment.
