Ademola Lookman, a Nigerian international, says he is enjoying life in Italy less than three weeks after moving to Atalanta from RB Leipzig.
The 24-year-old player, who spent the 2021–2022 English Premier League season on loan at Leicester City, completed a transfer to the Black and Blues for €9 million plus performance-related bonuses.
The attacker made an impression during his time in England, scoring eight goals in 42 games for the Foxes, but Brendan Rodgers’ team were unable to permanently sign the winger due to Leipzig’s €15 million valuation of him.
The Nigerian has made five appearances and contributed to three goals since signing with Atlanta (a goal and two assists).
Lookman put on another outstanding performance during their matchday 5 match weekend against newly promoted Monza on Monday. He assisted Rasmus Hojlund’s opening goal before Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa directed his shot into the goal to seal the victory at Brianteo Stadium.
Gian Gasperini, the manager of Atalanta, praised the Nigerian for his performance and singled him out for special mention.
The Nigerian responded to the game as reported by monza-news.it. He acknowledged the difficulty of the league but claimed he was enjoying himself.
Lookman affirmed that the second half was better.
