The People’s Democratic Party‘s (PDP) Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has come under fire from the Obi-Datti Media office, who has demanded that he promote himself and leave Peter Obi alone.
The media office made this comment in response to a claim made by Okowa that the Labour Party presidential candidate was fanning the flames of religion and its related issues.
The Obi-Datti Media office, which took on Okowa, claimed that the governor showed himself to be blatantly ignorant of the scope of the country’s problems and the reasons Nigerians are rallying around the LP presidential ticket holder.
The office claimed in a statement that Okowa’s unfounded accusation is only one of many attempts to portray Obi as a product of the nation’s archaic politics, religion, tribe, and location.
Okowa, upset by Obi’s popularity among the lay faithful, claims he is stoking religious passions. First, Obi was called a simple social media blitz, dangling in the air without structure. Second, he was called an Igbo and IPOB irredentist.
The reality is that Obi is the leader of a movement with supporters from all areas of our national life, making it impossible to pigeonhole him within any particular industry.
Even before he entered the current race for the presidency, Obi visited churches. When he was unveiled during the 25th anniversary of a priest in July 2021 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Karu, Abuja, the church exploded. Nigerians praised him for everything he stood for and accomplished while in public office in Anambra State at a number of weddings in Abuja, Lagos, and other parts of the country where he travelled.
This year’s wedding of Dr. Okowa’s child at the National Ecumenical Conference Centre in Abuja was one of these events. Long before he started aspiring to the presidency, Obi was celebrated at any public event.
Obi recently visited a wedding ceremony in a mosque in Kaduna State, where he was surrounded by fans who wanted to touch him.
The governor of Delta state was always invited to most of Obi’s high-profile public church appearances, including a recent Dunamis Church outing in Abuja, according to the Obi and Datti Media office. Because Obi dislikes being a rep where the people want him, he either stayed away or sent his wife to represent him. Despite his busy schedule, he makes an effort to be present.
“We don’t anticipate Governor Okowa to participate in these fanciful discussions of attack dogs, but rather to use every channel at his disposal to promote himself and his candidate rather than spending his time disparaging Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
“Truth which is glaring and known to even Okowa is that the Labour Party candidate is leading a movement that cannot be stopped or distracted by any side talk because it was prompted by long-standing oppression of the people who are about to be liberated with Obi’s message of hope.
“Taking back the country and rebuilding it is a task that is almost certain as there is no going back. The oppressors have forced the oppressed to pull the trigger and there is no going back.
