Peter Obi’s supporters organised a rally in Rivers and Benue State on Saturday, August 27, 2o22. Obi is the presidential candidate for the Labour Party.
To show support for their candidate, Obi’s followers flocked to Port Harcourt in large numbers for what they dubbed a “two-million-man march.”
The “Obi-dients,” as they are known, marched through the pouring rain from Eleme to Isaac Boro Park while halting all vehicular traffic.
Hilda Dokubo, a Nollywood actress, addressed the group and, to the delight of the audience, recited the ‘Obi-dient’ motto, “We no dey donate shishi, we no dey collect shishi.”
Similar events occurred in Makurdi, the capital of the Benue state, where one of the “Obi-dient” leaders discussed the reasons they are rallying support for the Labour Party in advance of the general elections of 2023.
“The purpose of this million-person march is to raise awareness about Peter Obi. The leader added that this was also done to raise awareness of the Labour Party’s logo. “Many individuals are unaware of what the Labour Party logo looks like.”
“We are watching as Port Harcourt, Auchi, Makurdi and Afikpo move OBIdiently today, under the sun and in the rain,” Mr Obi himself wrote on Twitter, acknowledging the rallies.
“Constitutional rights to peaceful assembly are protected and must be respected by all. Our labours will never be in vain. I appreciate you all.”
