No fewer than 27,000 registered members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State have endorsed the Labour Party ahead of the general election of 2023.
The Labour Party declared that preparations to welcome the defectors into the fold in the first week of September 2022 were well under way.
The announcement was made by the party’s state chairman, Alexander Emmanuel, on Saturday during the opening of a new LP office in the Agyaragu community of the state’s Obi Local Government Area that had been donated to the party by youth and women’s organisations.
He said that the party’s one million supporters, culled from 56 support organisations spread over the state’s 13 LGAs, were in addition to the 27,000 members who left the APC and PDP.
These 27,000 defectors, he continued, “have expressed interest in joining our party in the past two weeks. They came to show their support for our party following the one million-man march that was staged in Lafia LGA for our presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and we are making every effort to welcome them by the first week of September.
“Today, we are in Agyaragu to inaugurate this party office which was donated by the youth and women in the community through the Crowd Power support group for Peter Obi.
“You can see the turn-out of people in a short notice. In fact, we are happy with the level of support that we are getting on a daily basis. I am confident that the Labour Party will win the 2023 presidential, governorship and other elections.”
