According to a source in Sport, Manchester United is willing to spend the £41.8 million that Red Bull Salzburg is seeking for Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko, 19, has been identified as a key target by Man United manager Erik ten Hag in the final days of the transfer window.
John Murtough, the manager of Manchester United, recently flew out to meet with the player’s agency in an effort to bring Ten Hag a fourth player before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.
Brighton will lack firepower for Man United’s Premier League debut on Sunday.
Mason Greenwood is still unable to play, Edinson Cavani has left Old Trafford, and Anthony Martial has sustained an injury that prevents him from competing against Brighton.
At a time when Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is uncertain and the Portugal captain is looking to join a team that can offer him Champions League play this season, Man United has also been connected with Sesko.
