The terrorists responsible for the March 28, 2022 attack on a Kaduna-bound train have released five more kidnapped victims on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
Recall, the terrorists had recently released a video of them whipping their victims and threatening to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari as well as Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El- Rufai.
The video had sparked reactions from Nigerians, many of whom asked President Muhammadu Buhari to rise up to the occasion or resign.
The five released victims are Prof. Mustapha Umar Imam, Akibu Lawal; Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.
Confirming their release to journalists in Kaduna State on Tuesday, Malam Tukur Mamu, lead negotiator and Media Consultant to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, said government should hasten negotiations for the release of the remaining victims as they are now in dangerous conditions.
He also harped on the importance of dialogue with the terrorists, insisting that there is nothing dialogue and negotiation could not achieve.
“In a situation where military force cannot work, dialogue would certainly work,” he said.
Heritage Times HT reported that the assailants attacked the illfated train on March 8, killed eight passengers and kidnapped no fewer than 61 others.
