On Saturday, Babachir Lawal, a former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), and Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the house of representatives, met with Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the governor of Rivers State.
The private meeting was held in Rivers State’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area at Governor Wike’s rural estate in Rumueprikom.
Former House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Honorable Yakubu Dogara, discussed their visit with press following the meeting and emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive Nigeria.
“Everyone agrees with us that Governor Wike is one of those indispensable political leaders. For us, it is a search to build an all inclusive Nigeria. So we feel that as part of the agenda setting we should meet with him and that is the reason why we are here. And for the rest, whatever it is, maybe in the future we can discuss that.”
Similarly, Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), revealed that their goal was to pay the governor of Rivers State a friendly visit.
“We came to visit our brother. He (Wike) is our brother. So, every now and then, the Bible enjoins you to visit one another. That is what we just did.”
According to Lawal, the conversation with the governor of Rivers State had nothing to do with the Friday meeting of some northern leaders in Abuja.
“No, there are many things that in the world for which you need to visit a brother, so there is nothing to do with our meeting in Abuja.”
