Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, declared on Monday that he joined the “match” of the 2023 general elections with the sole intention of winning and that he would not support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party.
On Monday night, Obi said during a Channels TV interview that he had all he needed to defeat Atiku.
In the 2019 general elections, Atiku’s running partner was the former governor of Anambra State, Obi. Despite Obi’s lauded oratory skills, the pair lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obi decided to run as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the run-up to the 2023 elections after “divorcing” Atiku.
However, Atiku stated last Friday in an interview with Arise TV that Obi could not pull off a miracle to win the 2023 presidential race.
Obi responded that he was in the race to win and that he had what it required to succeed when asked by Channels TV whether he might collaborate with Atiku if the opportunity presented itself.
Obi said, “Nobody goes into a match thinking of what will happen. Everyone is going into it to win. I’m going into this contest to be the next President of Nigeria… I think I have all it takes to win.”
