According to family sources, Oba Adekunle Salawudeen, the Aseyin of Iseyin in Oyo State, has gone away.
The monarch passed away on Sunday, making it the fourth death of a prominent traditional ruler in Oyo State in the previous eight months.
Prior to that, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade Oyewumi, passed away in December 2021. He was followed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died in January and April of the following year, respectively.
Although there are little specifics about Aseyin’s passing, it is known through family sources that he had been ill for some time.
A historic Yoruba town called Iseyin may be found in northern Oyo State, 91 kilometers from Ibadan, the state’s capital.
