The United States has once again refused to let Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez enter.
This suggests that he won’t be in charge for their first preseason matchup against Inter Miami.
Xavi traveled to Barcelona’s airport on Saturday with the rest of the club, but was unable to join the flight to the US because of previous excursions to Iran.
LaLiga made arrangements for Xavi to go out to see his team on Tuesday as a result. But he still hasn’t gotten the go-ahead to depart.
Due to his previous affiliation with Qatari side Al Sadd as a player and coach, Xavi visited Iran three times over the course of the last five years.
He was asked for further information to support his trips to the Middle Eastern country because of Iran’s diplomatic ties with the United States.
At least four days of Xavi’s team’s preseason practice have now passed without him.
When they play the MLS opposition, his brother, Oscar Hernandez, will be in command. The manager will be hoping that his paperwork is in order in time to play Real Madrid in Las Vegas four days later.
