Supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), have criticised Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over his Facebook birthday greeting.
Earlier today, Atiku wished Obi a happy 61st birthday on Facebook.
The supporters of Peter Obi bombarded Atiku’s message, proclaiming Obi to be the new president.
The former Vice President wrote, “On behalf of my family, I wish my good friend, presidential candidate of the LP, and former Governor of Anambra State, H.E Peter Obi, a memorable 61st birthday celebration. I wish you many more years in good health and vitality. -AA”
However, supporters of Obi congratulated him and identified him as Nigeria’s new president in the post that received 11,000 comments.
However, several critics praised Atiku for being considerate enough to wish his opponent a happy birthday.
Facebook user Basil Eze urged fans to focus on wishing Obi a happy birthday instead of referring to him as the next president because Atiku was also running, but other users advised against it.
Users encouraged Atiku to resign from the contest and endorse Obi in various remarks, while others urged Atiku to congratulate Obi on his birthday and the outcome of the presidential election the next year.
