Kamorudeen Akinola, 41, was ordered to be remanded in the Abolongo correctional facility on Monday by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for allegedly killing his neighbor.
Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Idowu rejected Akinola’s plea on the grounds that he lacked jurisdiction.
Idowu put off decision-making on the issue until September 20.
Akinola of Ibadan’s Olorunsogo neighborhood has reportedly been accused by police with conspiracy and murder, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Akinola allegedly planned to murder someone else, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Femi Oluwadare.
According to Oluwadare, Akinola strangled his neighbor Kehinde Akolade, 41, on June 26 at the Ajao crossroads in Ibadan.
According to him, the crime is covered by sections 319 and 324 of the Oyo State 2000 Criminal Code.
