The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that it was denied entrance to two rally locations in the state, but Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola has rejected this.
The Osogbo Township Stadium, the Technical College field, and Freedom Park were allegedly turned down by the state branch of the PDP when it applied to utilize them for its final campaign rally on Thursday.
The Special Adviser to Governor Oyetola on Political Affairs, Sunday Akere, responded to the claim in a conversation with ThisDay on Thursday. He claimed the PDP had not promptly reserved the two locations.
According to Akere, the opposition party lost out on the aforementioned venues due to a lack of organization.
According to him, a youth organization made reservations for the stadium before the PDP, and the minibus union obtained the freedom park.
Akere argued that the absence of a venue did not necessarily lead to the deployment of thugs and urged security personnel to be aware of the PDP’s threat.
“It is unfortunate that the PDP, due to lack of proper organization, decided to book the venues after other groups have done so.
“Other parties have used many public facilities, it does not determine who wins an election. A youth group booked for the stadium ahead of them, while the minibus union is using the freedom park,” he said.
