In a gunfight in Benin, the Edo Police said on Tuesday that they shot and killed a notorious armed robbery suspect and found one pump action gun and five live rounds.
This information is included in a statement issued in Benin and signed by ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, the PPRO.
According to Iwegbu, the operation was the result of a distress call made to the divisional police officer in charge of the Ugbor division about an ongoing armed robbery operation by Benson Idahosa University, Ugbor GRA, Benin, along the Abuja quarters.
“The DPO personally led operatives to the scene with the aim to arrest the suspects.
“On arrival at the scene, the suspects on sighting the police, engaged them in a gun duel.
“However, the superior fire power from the police operatives neutralised one of the suspected armed robbers.”
Five live cartridges and a pump action gun were found on the suspect.
To catch the gang members running, she claimed that efforts were still being made.
