Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has been called a con.
An Abuja-based rights activist named Deji Adeyanju made the remark in response to assertions that Obi does not fly a private plane.
Contrary to popular belief, Adeyanju claimed, the former governor of Anambra State frequently employs a private plane.
He was reacting to a video showing Obi waiting in line to board a commercial airplane at a Nigerian airport.
A Twitter user, @Naija_PR posted the video of Obi with the message: “Peter Obi spotted queuing at the airport, we hope this will continue if he becomes the president.”
The socio-political pundit responded by recalling how Obi utilized a private plane for two months during his 2019 presidential campaign alongside Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Adeyanju stated in a tweet: “This is a hoax. Obi frequently employs PJ. He paid $600k for a private jet that he utilized for two months while running for president with Atiku in 2019.
“Atiku later paid part of the money. He’s still owing the company about $300k. Even recently he still used PJ.”
