On Saturday about 10:30am, President Muhammadu Buhari joined other Muslims at the Kofar Arewa Eid prayer area in Daura, Katsina State, while under heavy security.
The Nigerian Army, the police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) took up strategic positions with rocket launchers and gun trucks surrounding the Eid grounds, according to SaharaReporters’ observations.
Military helicopters were also circling the area to provide aerial cover against any potential attacks by terrorists.
On June 6, 2022, InsightnaijaTV had claimed that some terrorists had on Tuesday started shooting at Buhari’s advance convoy, which had been sent before his visit to Daura, Katsina State, for Sallah celebrations.
A statement from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu titled, “Gallant Presidential guards repel attack on advance team ahead of President’s visit,” obtained by InsightnaijaTV confirmed the attack.
Imam Safiyanu Yusuf, who led the two raka’at prayers on Saturday at the Eid grounds, urged Muslims to serve God like Ibrahim did and emphasized that “Allah will provide what you want and secure the land.”
Following the prayer, the Chief Imam Safiyanu Yusuf and the President slaughtered a ram for the Eid-el-Kabir as children and women came to see.
For the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, President Muhammadu Buhari traveled to his rural birthplace in Daura, Katsina State, on Friday.
At 5:15 p.m., the President’s plane landed at Katsina’s Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, where he was met by Aminu Bello Masari, the state governor, and other top state officials.
The Emir, Dr. Faruk Umar Faruk, members of the Emirate Council, and other District Heads welcomed the President when he arrived in Daura.
