The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are accused of conspiring to rig the just completed governor’s election in Ekiti State, according to the Segun Oni Campaign Organization (SOCO).
The organization charged the electoral umpire with purposefully delaying the upload of the Ekiti State governorship election results on Saturday, June 18.
According to SOCO, the delay was necessary to perfect the fabricated results that had been used to declare Mr. Biodun Oyebamiji, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner.
This was mentioned in a statement provided to the media in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday by Mr. Jackson Adebayo, the campaign organization’s director of media and publicity.
Adebayo claimed that the INEC summary of local government results on Form EC8C and summary of the Ekiti State election results on Form EC8D had not yet been uploaded to the server. This makes it difficult for the legal team to compile the necessary papers and for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, to file a petition to contest the win of the APC candidate, Mr. Biodun Oyebamiji, at the election.
The SOCO’s Spokesman questioned why INEC should be afraid to upload the results if not because it wants to perfect the fabricated numbers it used to rig for the APC before uploading the results to its server. The SOCO said INEC has so far uploaded summary of units results on Form EC8A and Ward results on FORM EC8B.
Because the INEC has no justification for delaying uploading the results two weeks after the election, Adebayo said this should be looked into.
