The Aare Onakakanfo in-council applauded the Zamfara State government’s decision to permit citizens to use force against robbers there.
As previously reported by InsightnaijaTV, the government requested that the Commissioner of Police give weapons licenses to people who qualify in a statement made on Sunday by the commissioner for information, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara.
According to Ibrahim, the government has decided to take more steps to address the recent uptick in attacks, kidnappings, and illegal levies imposed on defenseless populations.
In a statement released on Monday on behalf of the council, the Gbonke Aare-Onakakanfo, Gboyega Adejumo encouraged the South West governors to take a cue from the Zamfara state administration in response to the event.
The council further stressed that South-west governors should stop tolerating the activities of terrorists ”masquerading as bandits and kidnappers, and killing innocent people at will”
They added that Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, has awakened other governors’ eyes with his command.
The statement reads, ‘‘Taking up arms in self defence is a global practice that should be encouraged once it is backed by the law.
“There is nothing bad if citizen takes up arms to defend themselves”
In order to strengthen connections between the western Nigerian security Network and the southwest security stakeholder group, the council also asked the governors of the South-West.
