Sen. Bala A. Mohammed, governor of Bauchi State, has declared Monday, June 27, 2022, a state holiday.
The holiday will make it possible for state residents who turned 18 after the 2019 General Elections, misplaced their PVCs, or even moved to a different region to take advantage of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voters Registration process and receive their PVCs (PVCs).
In response, Bala Mohammed instructed all commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, board chairmen, directors-general, executive secretaries, permanent secretaries, and other public office holders to travel to their respective electoral wards and encourage eligible registrants to come out in droves and register. Bala Mohammed also expressed grave concern about the low turnout of eligible voters.
As stated in a statement by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Advisor Media and Publicity to the Governor, residents of the state are thus reminded to make sure they registered in order to be able to vote in the general elections of 2023.
