On Thursday, some lawmakers who ran on the PDP platform paid a visit to Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.
Wike hasn’t said anything recently either the next general elections or the prospects for his party in the 2023 elections.
After Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, chose Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as his running mate, the PDP chieftain chose not to issue a comment.
The event has sparked concerns that the governor of Rivers State, a stalwart supporter of the main opposition party, would leave before the 2023 election.
Governor Wike and PDP lawmakers met behind closed doors on Thursday, led by Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda.
The Senate Minority Whip, Chukwuka Utazi, Shuaibu Lau, Danjuma La’ah, and Senator Barry Mpigi were the legislators present at the meeting.
The senators entered the closed-door discussion with Governor Wike as soon as they arrived at the governor’s mansion, InsightnaijaTV learned.
The Rivers State Governor and the lawmakers met till almost six o’clock.
Recall that Godsday Orubebe, a former minister for Niger Delta affairs, met with Governor Wike on Thursday as well.
Days after resigning from the PDP, Orubebe will be in town.
