Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has dismissed reports that President Muhammadu Buhari and northern governors are plotting to derail Bola Tinubu’s bid for the presidency of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He claimed that the governors and Buhari will not forsake Tinubu in order to make space for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The former Aviation Minister emphasized in a tweet that there is no such plot.
He promised that Buhari, the Norther APC governors, and the party’s leaders will not oppose Tinubu.
According to Fani-Kayode: “To those who believe that @MBuhari & the Northern Governors & leaders in @OfficialAPCNg are involved in a conspiracy to ensure that @atiku wins next year’s election and that they will betray @officialABAT and ensure that he loses, I say the following: no such conspiracy exists.”
Tinubu became the APC’s flag bearer after receiving the support of Northern APC governors.
Prior to the Abuja Special Convention, APC northern governors urged that the party zone its presidential ticket to the country’s southern party.
Despite APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu’s support for Senate President Ahmad Lawan, the northern governors insisted that the party’s presidential candidate must come from the south.
