A soldier and two other suspects have been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a university student in the state.
The suspect is claimed to have confessed to being involved in the crime to make money during interrogation.
“The Command received a distress call that a student of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) was kidnapped from Oye-Ekiti by unknown hoodlums to an unknown destination,” Ekiti State Police Spokesman ASP Sunday Abutu said in a statement.
“Upon the receipt of the information, the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) immediately activated investigation and tracked the suspects to Ifelodun Hotel, Ado-Ekiti where the victim was held hostage inside one of the hotel rooms.
“The victim was immediately rescued while three suspects were arrested inside the hotel room,
They include Ondo State residents Ojo Babajide and Olajide Nathaniel, as well as Adeuyi Adetayo, who claimed to be a private soldier stationed in Yobe State.
However, efforts were still being made to apprehend the other suspect, who bolted and eluded capture when he saw the cops.
