The son of Professor Ali Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, was released hours after he was kidnapped, according to reports released on Friday.
Alamin Isa Ali Pantami, the son, was reportedly stolen on Friday in Bauchi State, where he lives with his grandmother.
His captors were believed to have dropped him off at a checkpoint in the state’s Dambam Local Government Area hours after he was supposedly taken, according to Daily Trust.
According to one of the victim’s guardians, “He just left the house; he is back home now. He was found in Dambam, where his abductors dropped him. They dropped him at a checkpoint and from there, he was brought home”.
When contacted, the State’s spokesperson, Mohammed Ahmed, and the Divisional Police in the capital said the case had not been reported.
Ahmed reacted to the situation by saying, “All we require from members of the public is to assist us with credible information on movement of dubious characters in their midst for necessary action, and if there is any problem they should report to police”.
