Following Abok Ayuba’s defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party, his seat in the Plateau State House of Assembly has been declared vacant.
During plenary on Tuesday at the temporary chamber of the House (old Government House) in Jos, Ayuba’s seat was declared vacant.
The decision was made, according to the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Sanda, after the state chapter of the APC wrote to the House, requesting that it declare Abok’s seat vacant for leaving the APC for the PDP in violation of Section 109 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
Eight members of the House impeached Abok five months ago after he deserted the ruling party last Thursday.
Meanwhile, the House declared Musa Agah’s position as the immediate past member of the Irigwe/Rukuba State Constituency vacant on Tuesday.
After winning the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election, Agah’s seat was declared vacant.
