Sonny Echono has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund by President Muhammadu Buhari (TETFund).
Sonny Echono is the immediate past Permanent Secretary of Education in the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as a member of the TETFund Board of Trustees, among other important National assignments.
He worked as a Permanent Secretary in various Ministries for seven years. Four years were spent in the Ministry of Education, with the rest spent in other Ministries.
He is expected to succeed Prof. Sulaiman Elias Bogoro, whose five-year term ends on March 18, 2022.
In a statement, Ben Goong, Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, described Echono as an accomplished technocrat who is expected to bring a diverse wealth of experience spanning infrastructure, business administration, procurement management, ICT, and the education sectors to the job.
