More borders have been added by the Federal Government allowing Nigerians fleeing the Ukraine-Russian conflict to enter Hungary.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that it is fully aware of all the obstacles that Nigerians entering into Ukraine’s neighboring countries, particularly the Polish border, face, and that it is taking appropriate efforts to address these issues.
The ministry recommended Nigerians in Ukraine to flee to the Hungarian Zahony border and the Romanian Suceava, Tulcea, Satu Mare County, and Maramures borders, according to a statement.
It further stated that they had granted visa-free entry for any Nigerians arriving from Ukraine, as well as lodging and feeding arrangements prior to departure.
“Parents, guardians and wards of Nigerians in Ukraine are enjoined to remain calm as the Federal Government of Nigeria is working very hard to get them all home safely.” The statement concluded.
Meanwhile, the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Embassy in Budapest, Hungary, has issued a Public Travel Advisory informing Nigerians arriving from Ukraine that Hungary’s government has passed Decree 56/2022 (24.11), allowing third-country nationals with valid Ukrainian resident permits to enter Hungary on a temporary basis without a Schengen visa.
