Senator Lekan Balogun will be installed as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland on March 11, 2022, according to Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Dr. B. A. Olanrewaju, announced the development in a statement on Tuesday.
Governor Makinde has authorised March 11 as the date for the installation of the new Olubadan, according to the announcement.
“Installation Ceremony of Olubadan of Ibadan: I wish to refer to a letter No.IBSELG.243/17 of 16th February, 2022 on the subject and inform you that the Executive Governor of Oyo State has approved Friday, March 11, 2022 as the date for the installation of the new Olubadan of Ibadan,” the statement reads in part.
Following the intrigues and drama surrounding who would become the next Olubadan of Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State announced Senator Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland on Monday (14th February).
Balogun’s nomination was confirmed by Makinde following a recommendation from the Olubadan-in-Council, according to a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Makinde said.
“The appointment is in line with the Olubadan of Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration, as well as the unique and time-tested tradition of our people.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Oyo State, I wish the newly confirmed Olubadan a successful reign blessed with peace and unprecedented progress.”
