Officers from Lagos’ raid response squad (RRS) reportedly saved a woman from plunging into a lagoon, averting tragedy. According to InsightnaijaTV, the woman was held by police on patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge on Thursday when she attempted to jump.
The woman said she committed suicide because she was “beaten at home,” according to a statement released by the RRS.
Meanwhile, she has been brought to a nearby division as officers attempt to contact her family members, according to the police.
“Officials of Rapid Response squad (RRS) on patrol of 3rd Mainland Bridge this afternoon stopped a lady from committing suicide by jumping into the lagoon,” the statement reads.
“She was attempting to jump into the lagoon outward Iyana Oworo end of the bridge when the officers restrained her.
“The lady in a light conversation revealed that ‘I was beaten at home, that is why I ran away to commit suicide’.
