Governors from Nigeria’s six south-western states have joined President Muhammadu Buhari on a one-day visit to Ogun State to commission five state-run projects.
Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, and Gboyega Oyetola of Ondo State are among those in attendance at the ongoing commissioning event (Osun State). Rauf Olaniyan, the deputy governor of Oyo state, represented Governor Seyi Makinde.
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State was also present, as were past governors of Ogun State, including Chief Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The 14-kilometer Epe/Ijebu-ode Expressway, the Ogun Gateway City at Sagamu junction, and the 42-kilometer Abeokuta/Sagamu road are all being inaugurated by the President.
Two housing projects are among the other projects that will be commissioned. 527 low and medium-density housing units in Kobape, and 83 duplexes at the Kings Court Estate in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.
While speaking at the ceremony in Ijebu Ode, Buhari praised the state governor for his efforts in infrastructural development since taking office in 2019.
“The last time I was here was in 2019 to campaign for him as our party’s candidate for governor. I must say, so much have changed since then. I wonder how he could deliver the projects despites the constraints caused by coronavirus,” Buhari stated.
