Over 1000 church leaders, including 100 bishops, have endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as a presidential candidate in 2023, calling him “God’s anointed choice.”
On Wednesday, Jonathan Praise, the chairman of the inter-denominational prayer in Abuja, said they would also organize a three-day fast and prayer for Bello’s triumph in 2023.
“The purpose of the gathering is to provide a spiritual shield and support for Governor Bello, who is God’s anointed choice to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari,” the cleric stated.
“For this, over 100 Bishops and Christian clerics will hold a three-day prayer and fasting for Bello’s success in 2023.”
Clerics and over 1,000 church leaders from each state of the federation are expected to attend the event, which will be hosted at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
When asked how Bello became governor, he responded it was not by chance but by destiny.
The women, who visited Bello at the Kogi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday under the banner of the Yahaya Bello Network (YBN), expressed their support.
Hadiza Ahmed, the YBN’s chairperson, said Bello stood out among those who have expressed interest in running for president in 2023.“their preferred choice considering all his achievements as governor of Kogi.”
“We are here to call on Yahaya Bello, to answer our call as a youth to be our next president in 2023,” she said.
This comes only days after Abdullmumini Jibrin Kofa, the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, organized a special prayer session for Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition ahead of the country’s general elections in 2023.
On January 1, around 2,500 clerics organized by the former House of Representatives member who represented Bebeji/Kiru Federal Constituency led a prayer session in his hometown of Kofa village in Bebeji Local Government Area, Kano State.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Kafin-Maiyaki, who recited verses from the Holy Qur’an and was attended by politicians from across the state.
