Seven people were killed, including two children, when two buses carrying passengers crashed in Ogun State.
The crash occurred near Kere village on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, injuring a total of twelve people.
The accident involved two Mazda commercial buses traveling to Abeokuta, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps.
According to reports, the buses were speeding while a light truck (Cabster) driver was driving against the flow of traffic. The deadly accident was claimed to have been caused by the drivers’ irresponsible driving.
The commercial buses had the numbers LSR 266 YD and LND 01 YE on them, while the Cabster truck had the number XS 595 JJJ.
“The driver of the Cabster van drove against traffic while the drivers of the Mazda commercial buses were speeding,” said TRACE Public Relations Officer Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, citing an eyewitness as the cause of the accident.
Four male adults, one female adult, one female child, and one male child were among the seven who died, according to him.
Seven male adults, four female adults, and one female child were among the 12 injured.
The injured individuals were transferred to General Hospital, Ijaiye, and Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, both in Abeokuta, according to Akinbiyi.
The bodies were also transferred to the morgue of General Hospital, Ijaiye, by Federal Road Safety Corps personnel, he added.
