Governor Babagana Umara Zulum paid a visit to soldiers injured in a violent fight with ISWAP militants near Rann.
Rann is a Nigerian-Cameroonian border town in Borno State’s central area, located in the Kala Balge Local Government Area.
At Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Zulum, on the other hand, engaged with and consoled all of the injured troops.
The Army’s General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brig Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, greeted him.
The Governor ordered the immediate distribution of N5 million to all troops admitted, including those who had nothing to do with the Kala-Balge combat.
Governor Zulum hailed and praised the troops for their bravery and loyalty.
The rebels assaulted forces stationed at the Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Rann with gun trucks and motorcycles.
During the raid, the forces bravely killed 26 terrorists and captured their battle vehicles, 18 AK 47 rifles, and one M-21 weapon, as well as a considerable amount of ammo.
The terrorists were subsequently forced to abandon their purpose and flee in confusion as a result of the forces’ actions.
Meanwhile, two commanders and five troops paid the ultimate price, while three others were injured and sent to the hospital with bullet wounds.
