A large number of vehicles and travelers were trapped in the Yakila and Garun Gabas districts near Kundu in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state, after an unknown number of armed bandits blocked the Kontagora-Minna Road in the state.
According to sources viewed by InsightnaijaTV, the one-hour blockage caused gridlock, and there were no security personnel in the vicinity at the time to clear the route.
The armed men are said to have kidnapped an unknown number of people and taken them to an unknown location, forcing other travelers to run into adjacent villages since they couldn’t continue their journey because they were afraid of being kidnapped by the armed guys.
According to witnesses, a team of security personnel arrived at the scene later to clear the road in order to ensure that it was safe for pedestrians and automobiles.
InsightnaijaTV recalls that drivers blocked the Benin-Auchi Road with their vehicles to protest against the abduction of one of their colleagues on Wednesday.
