Mr Olukayode Popoola, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, said on Friday that section one of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway reconstruction/rehabilitation project was 70% complete.
Popoola stated that 39 of the 43.6 kilometers of section one of the expressway, which runs from Ojota in Lagos to Sagamu Interchange, had reached the final stage of construction.
“The total length achieved up to wearing course is about 39 kilometres out of 43.6 kilometres. That should be close to 70 per cent completion,’’ he said.
Popoola also claimed in a statement that construction between Warewa and Arepo had been finished, allowing for the removal of diversion stations.
The controller had issued a six-day detour on the one-and-a-half-kilometer segment for maintenance on Sunday, Nov. 28.
Popoola said “The laying of wearing course between Warewa and Arepo had been completed.
“The diversion of traffic that started from Monday will be restored back by Saturday, 4 December, 2021, by 11 am.”
He praised commuters and motorists for their patience and cooperation, and stated that the federal government is dedicated to completing outstanding work as soon as possible in order to complete the project by 2022.
Julius Berger is in charge of section one of the highway, while Reynolds Construction Company is in charge of part two, which runs from Sagamu Interchange to Ojoo in Ibadan (RCC).
