Senator Orji Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, hosted freshly elected officials of the People’s Democratic Party in his Aso Rock, Abuja, apartment on Thursday afternoon.
Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP’s National Secretary, led the team, which included other freshly elected party members.
At precisely 12.28 p.m., Anyanwu, a former Senator, and other newly elected PDP leaders arrived at the residence of the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District.
Anyanwu, dressed in navy blue native garb, was greeted by Kalu’s companions and then escorted immediately to the principal officer of the upper chamber with his executives.
When they saw each other, they exchanged pleasantries and embraced before heading inside for a meeting.
Other party executives came at Kalu’s house to join the meeting as the gathering progressed.
The visit comes amid reports that the former governor of Abia State is being groomed to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 presidential election (retd.)
In 2016, Kalu, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, formally joined the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He ran for Senator in 2019 and was elected.
