The General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Olukoya, has said he will always support the police in their efforts to secure lives and property.
He said he grew up in the barracks and that his father was a policeman.
Speaking on Thursday at the inauguration of the Police Community Relations Committee, Prayer City Unit, the cleric noted that he would continue to support the police and other security agencies in whatever capacity required of him.
“I have no option but to support the police. My father was a policeman and I lived in the barracks,” he said.
Olukoya and his wife, Folashade, were decorated with the award of Grand Patron of the MFM Prayer City Unit of the PCRC.
The National Vice Chairman of PCRC (South-West), Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, noted that Olukoya was awarded the South-West Patron of PCRC some years ago. He said the cleric and his wife should expect more awards in the future given the cleric’s cordial relationship with the police, which he traced to his background as a cop’s son.
He conveyed the warm wishes of the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, saying residents must always support the police with information as well as logistical and psychological support for them to perform optimally.
The Assembly Pastor of the MFM International headquarters, Kunle Adesanya, who stood in for Olukoya after he left the gathering, said the collaboration between the police and the people had immense benefits.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer, Ibafo, Chief Superintendent of Police Alabi Olusoji, promised that the police would always work on the information provided by the people. He, however, noted that security was no longer for the police alone.
Awards were also presented to the Mega Regional Overseer of MFM Ota, Pastor Wale Adeolumuyiwa; Prayer City Commandant, Pastor Tayo Adedini; Senior Regional Overseer in charge of Land and Property, Pastor Frederick Alewi; and the Mega Regional Overseer, Abeokuta, Pastor Gbenga Oyewunmi.
