Abba Sayyadi Ruma, a former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has died.
Ruma, who was born in Katsina State, died on Wednesday in a London hospital, InsightnaijaTV reports.
When acting president Goodluck Jonathan disbanded his cabinet in March 2010, he stepped down. Adamu Bello took over as his successor.
He served on the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, based in Rome, Italy, and as a Partner Minister of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization during his lifetime (UNESCO).
Malam Tukur Mamu, publisher of the Kaduna-based Desert Herald newspaper and magazine, has sent his condolences to the Ruma family.
