Leo Messi stated in a lengthy interview with ‘France Football’ that he does not consider himself a favorite to win the Ballon d’Or. On the other hand, he also mentioned the flaws in PSG that he still sees.
‘France Football’ spoke with Leo Messi at length and in depth. The Argentinian retraced his journey from Barcelona to the Ballon d’Or in his first interview with the famous magazine.
PSG has been vying for the Champions League for a decade, and Messi believes the squad has “all the weapons” to win it, despite the high level of difficulty.
“It’s everyone’s dream here. The club has been working towards this goal for years and has been close. I would love to win it again,” Leo said.
Messi, on the other hand, has yet to witness PSG’s unity as a team, which is an essential attribute if they are to have a realistic chance of winning the Champions League.
“To win important titles it is essential to play as a team. That’s what makes me say that we’re still a step behind compared to all the other clubs, who have more experience than us,” he said.
Leo Messi is one of the nominees for the Ballon d’Or, but he doesn’t consider himself a favorite and refuses to discuss the trophy until he knows who will win it.
“I don’t consider myself a favorite, and I’ve never liked to talk about it.” It would be fantastic if it happened. Having six is already extraordinary, so adding a seventh would be incredible. “I finally got the title I was missing this summer,” he remarked.
Messi stated that he has never set his sights on a trophy such as the Ballon d’Or because he believes that winning as a team comes first.
“I’ve never focused on winning them. It has been the consequence of collective victories and good work. If the team plays well and performs well, the individuals shine as well,” he concluded.
