Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, arrested by the Nigerian Army on Thursday, October 07, 2021 has been released.
This was made known by a video posted by Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, on his Instagram page on Thursday while actress, Chizzy Alichi also wrote on social media; “Uncle Chinwetalu Agu has been released. He is safe and sound.”
According to the video, Agu was released via the intervention of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Insightnaijatv earlier reported that Agu was arrested by soldiers in Upper Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra State on Thursday for wearing an outfit made out of the Biafran Flag.
Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, said the veteran actor was apprehended for inciting members of the public and soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
