Dr. Hafsat Umar Ganduje, the wife of Kano state Governor, has been released from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s (EFCC) net, according to a source.
Dr. Hafsat Ganduje, who was summoned to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Sunday, was interrogated for more than five hours over her alleged role in a land issue.
Following the petition filed against her by her first son Abdulzeez Ganduje, Hafsat had previously refused the EFCC’s invitation.
Under the influence of her husband, the governor’s wife was issued an administrative bill for the alleged illegal hijacking of land property worth billions of naira.
Governor Ganduje, who accompanied his wife to the EFCC headquarters, is believed to have prevailed on those in positions of authority with strong ties to see to his wife’s release.
The Governor and his wife arrived in Kano on Tuesday morning via Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
Abdulzeez had taken his mother, Hafsat Ganduje, to the EFCC over a property, alleging that the mother had benefited from her position of authority.
