The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has directed the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) to increase their tariff effect from 1st September 2021.
The directive was confirmed in a notice issued by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company dated August 25.
The document with reference number 023/EKEDP/GMCLR/0025/2021, was signed by the General Manager Loss Reduction, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Olumide Anthony-Jerome.
The Company said that it was officially informing its customers on the decision of upward tariff adjustment effective from 1st September 2021.
It reads, “This is to officially notify you that there will be an increase in electricity tariff with effect from 1st September 2021.
“This increase is as a result of the nationwide mandate to implement the Service Based Tariff approved by our regulators (NERC).
“Kindly note that the increase will be reflected on the energy bill for October 2021 which will represent energy Consumption for September 2021.
“In addition, for our metered customers with internal vending arrangements, we urge you to adjust the rates accordingly to reflect the new tariff increase as released by NERC.”
The new rates based on service band showed that there will be a N2 increase in across all the Tarrif class.
For example, the Tarrif class of Non-MD will be raise from N54.08 per Kilowatt to N56.08, while that of MD 1 and MD 2 will be raised from N56.94 per kilowatt to N58.94.
