Niger State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Muhammed Sani Idris, who was kidnapped on Monday has been released by his abductors.
InsightnaijaTV recalls that unknown gunmen on Monday morning invaded the residence of the Commissioner at Babban-Tunga, a community off Abuja/Kaduna highway with sophisticated weapons and whisked him to an unknown destination.
The gunmen, according to reports, attacked his wife, children and took him away.
InsightnaijaTV learned that the Commissioner was released by the criminal elements on Thursday night after a ransom was paid.
When contacted by newsmen, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the release.
He was, however, unable to give details saying, “we are working on an official statement which will be released shortly”.
