Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule on Monday, August 02, 2021 said that it would be unwise for any northerner to move against power shift to the southern part of the Country in 2023.
According to him, the North has successfully produced the president for a good time, therefore, it is the turn of the South to produce the next president.
The Governor made this call on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, amid increasing demand that the South should be given the presidential slot.
“I believe in the rotational presidency in Nigeria, I strongly believe in that,” he said. “This is my view, it is not the view of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors.”
He said, there is no way he would not support the South to produce the next president, having benefited from the power rotation.
“That is why, from all indications, I have never said anything against the agitation for rotation of the presidency to the South. It’s because I don’t think it’s a bad idea for peace in Nigeria if there is a rotational presidency,” Sule said.
He added that for fairness and distribution if the presidency is zoned to the South, the APC national chairmanship should be zoned to the North.
While noting that he is a beneficiary of rotation in the emerging governor of Nasarawa, he noted that the best person from the zone should emerge as the nation’s President.
