Lagos State Government on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 commence a three-day in-plant training for officers on Grade Levels 1- 12 of Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service.
In his opening address, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said the theme of the training ” Improving Productivity in the 21st Century Public Service” was borne out of the conviction gotten as a result of the training held recently for the retirees, which among others advised that those in the active service should be given adequate attention and tutored accordingly on several ways of improving productivity by seasoned and erudite facilitators that knew knitty gritty of the service.
The Head of Service who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mr. Samson Ajibade, reiterated that part of what came out of the training for the retirees was that we should intensify training for those in the active service and to be frank with you “we did learn, unlearn and relearn, hence the reason we come up with the training to be anchored by former Permanent Secretary and seasoned facilitators, who we knew are capable, especially those that have passed through the system.They were part of the system and are still very much with us, they know and would teach you all that would make you a productive public servant in the 21st Century , that is why we went for those we know would teach you alll the needed and added knowledge that would make all the participants learn, relearn and unlearn”, he said.
He, therefore, advised that the participants should make the 3-day workshop/training participatory and interactive, which among others would assist them identify features of structure, recession and resilience and as well mention the various response mechanisms to access public services, among others
“Pls endeavour to make the 3-day training interactive and participatory. You are being watched, be a good ambassador of this public service office. Listen very well and ensure you contribute meaningfully through out the programme. With the calibre of our facilitators today, in person of Mr. Bashir Ademuyiwa Braimah,a former Permanent Secretary and Mr. Akeem Sarumi and Mrs Amusa, you would know that we are not here for a tea party but for a serious learning and training sessions”, he said.
The Head of Service therefore enjoined all the participants to participate effectively in all the sessions and ask them questions that are germaine and would be helpful to make them make a difference in the service.
